Here’s a few common cleaning problems you may encounter.

It’s always best to let the cleaners know about the stain so you can ensure the best methods are used to achieve positive results. We apply a duty of care to each dry cleaning process. Here are some cleaning tips in an emergency.

Chewing Gum: Place the garment In the freezer, once hard use a dull knife to remove as much as possible. You can use a spot stain remover. Rub some liquid laundry detergent into the stain and then wash according to the care label.

Coffee: Rinse back of stain well with cold water to remove as much as possible. Create a paste with some Nappy San and rub onto the stain, stand for several minutes. Add a little Nappy san into the laundry and wash.

Foundation: Use a dull knife to remove as much as possible. Dampen stain and rub with a bar of soap, dishwashing liquid or laundry detergent, rub In well. Rinse well and wash.

Red Wine: As with every stain, time is of the essence when removing red wine stains. The sooner you can work on removing the stain, the easier it will come out. The following remedies work best on cotton, polyester and blends.

First, combine equal parts liquid detergent or soap and hydrogen peroxide in a bowl. Sponge or pour the mixture over the red wine stain and let stand for a minute to pre-soak. Please note: if you have stained only one side of a garment, place a towel between the stained layer and clean layer so the stain does not penetrate through to the other side of the fabric. If possible, test one small area first to ensure the solution does not discolour the fabric.
Next, gently blot the stained area. The hydrogen peroxide and soap formula help remove discoloration. Continue to blot until the stain can no longer be seen. The garment can then be put in the laundry machine as usual. Cool water is usually best. Be sure to check care labels for special instructions.

Blood: Rinse the stain with clean cold water (warm water will set the stain). Put a white paper (or towel) on the cloth to suck the stain. Remove remaining blood stain with a solution of dish washing detergent with cold water.. Now follow the procedure of using detergent for repeated times until the remaining stain is removed.

Understanding how to care for your garments will help you preserve them so you get maximum value from your investment.
